You can definately share files between two computer with a router as long as you can ping one computer from the other.

1) Set them up on the same workgroup.

2) Name each computer differently (ex: computer1, computer2)

3) Setup share with full access to all users on one computer

4) Map to the share from your second computer (ex. \\computer1\share)

Thats about all you need.

Good Luck

You would need a line simulator to provide current on the line. See the additional info for how to build one.

You can use a null modem cable, it's a crossover serial cable. You can then connect them to each other and it would function as a modem to modem connection.

Or you can purchase two network cards and a crossover cable. This will be the fastest connection.

Not without 2 phone lines so that you can provide a dialtone typically. It can be done but it's typically not worth the hassle. Your much better off buying 2 cheap network cards, or if they have network cards already getting an ethernet crossover cable to connect the two.

m8 your Motherboard should have built in ethernet, its pretty standard since the mid 90's or something just get a cross over cable, its doable how ever very slow indeed and almost pointless it would be faster to do it with cd's heck floppy disks would proberly be quicker.

Through a modem? I suppose that you could but it would be EXTREMELY slow (capped at 56kbps).
