I wanted to enter the American Idol Songwriting Competition and then it said you had to be 18 or older. What for? What does it matter, as long as you write a good song? They can't do like a parent varification thing so they know that your parent approves? Just why!? it doesn't make sense to me.

It is difficult to hire minors and allow them to enter competitions because of the laws involved.

18 is usually the legal age on everything for starters.
