You can always pickle them. Maybe canning them would work too. Look on the web for some recipe ideas.

It can be dipped in wax, or poly urethane. Don't ever let it get broken, you can guess why.

Short term-Refrigerate it and leave the shell on,Longer term-pickle it and can it.
