raycroft is basically rubbish, but he's not the only problem with our team. sundin carried the team on his back this year, and with injuries and crappy defense, and people not performing to their ability, it's not like the whole season was his fault. hopefully they ca get someone better.

GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!!!

ps. sabres07 is a complete dinkus who should shut his mouth before someone shuts it for him

Andrew Raycroft is a better goalie than many fans in Toronto give him credit for. After all, the guy did tie the franchise record for most wins in a single season by a goaltender with 37 this season, which was a career high for him. Also, take into consideration that this was really only his second full season in the NHL, and his first in Toronto. Also, he had Hal Gill and Pavel Kubina on defense in front of him, two of the biggest, slowest and most overpaid defensemen in the league, who constantly had the fastest guys coming down on them and beating them on the other team. No, Andrew Raycroft was not the problem in Toronto this season, and he won't be next season. True, his save percentage needs some work and needs to get back above .900, but he got his goals against average down below 3, which is a big deal because he had it over 3 for quite some time this season. Andrew Raycroft will be in a Maple Leafs uniform all next year, and most likely for many years to come after that. Besides, if they were to get rid of him, who could they put in goal to replace him? They couldn't possibly afford a goalie like J. S. Giguere or anyone else who might be up for free agency, since they have put too much money into their very much underachieving defense. Andrew Raycroft did all he could in the Toronto net this season to help his team succeed, and will continue to do so for years to come. The tragic thing is, his team did not do enough defensively in front of him to succeed and make the playoffs, missing out for a second straight year.

Yes. The Leafs should get rid of Raycroft so they can finish worse in 2007-08 than the Flyers did in 2006-07.

Personally, I don't think Raycroft is anything special, but you still don't get rid of a goalie unless you find someone better to replace him with. If the Leafs can make a deal that results in the acquisition of a high-caliber goalie instead of some schmuck, then they had better jump for the chance to send mister mediocrity packing.

P.S. Sabres07 needs to shut his or her mouth. Go back to the Sabrekids website where you belong; we don't want you here making the IQs of the entire hockey section go down.

You can't entirely blame Andrew Raycroft for the Leafs not making the play offs.

Even Don Cherry said give the kid a break it's not his fault.

Why does everyone always automatically blame the goalie?

quite possibly the worst first string goalie in the NHL to date, did you see him in the most important game of the season vs montreal on saturday night, giving up 5 goals. He was terrible and almost cost the leafs the game. The leafs should buy out his contract and look elsewhere for a real goalie, they can't possibly hang their hopes on him for a second season if the do they will miss the playoffs for a third straight season.
Raycroft sucks.
