how do i get the black stuff offof my stainless pot?

Make a paste with baking soda and put a little dish soap on a scrubbing pad. It will take a pit of elbow grease, but it will work.

I presume you have soaked the pan in warm water and washing up liquid overnight. Use a rounded knife and scrape the burnt starch of being careful not to scratch the surface. The remaining residue will have to be scrubbed off with a pan scourer and a cleaner for stainless steal. You can get a ssteal cutting solution but the pot will taste different after that.

I would let it soak for a long time in warm, soapy water. I would then use a SOS pad. It should come off with a little effort on your part!

Soak it over night, in water, dish soap, vinagr and baking soda!

You can use a scouring pad. SOS should work nicely. You'll need to use plenty of "elbow grease!"
