The automatic locking system does no lock either when i turn on the ignation and put in drive any help welcome thanks

Auto locking not working ... good riddence.
On Fords you can go in and enable/disable this feature If you have the owners manual it will tell you how to do this. I purposely disabled it as it kills the lock motor in the door.
To answer your question : Do the doors lock with the power lock switch? If not there is a relay that is bad. Question becomes... is the relay part of the body computer or seperate, if so, that relay will be under that dash, and you will need the parts locator for the truck.
It is not going to be the battery in the remote as the auto lock does not work either.

Could there be a bad relay on the locking system? It's either that or a broken wire.

The above are some good answers but your remote could be worn out and you need a new one. This happened to me.

the battery in the remote is weak re place it. go to a alarm store to do this.
