my PS2 will say "disk read error" for purple back CDs and with white it will blink "reading disk" 3 times and stop and ill have to open then close the door again for it to start "reading disk" again and stop. after a while making t go in and out it will work properly.
NOTE**the purple back CDs will say "reading disk" like the PS3 should but it will say "disk read error". and i have tried other games, so i know its the PS3.. thanks

buy a laser lens cleaner at any electronic store. i bet the lens is dirty in the PS2 or u can just clean it inside if you have a air compressor just air all the dust out. or probably the disc is scratched.

try vacuming out the filter in the back of the console. If that doesn't work, walmart sells disk cleaners for PS2.
