Ok, that is ridiculous. Never. English will always be the first language in the US, not second, not third.
People act like it's a big deal that people speak different languages here, when it's not.
Eventually, all learn.
You're just annoyed by immigrants, when really, that's what this country's made of.
YOUR family was an immigrant at some point too.
& chances are, YOUR family spoke a different language too.
Probably more did back then, then they do now, and English is STILL dominant.
So take it easy!

I detect a little resentment in your question but...
It already does require an interpreter- doesn't george bush use one to translate from his 'english' into 'proper english' ??
Seriously though- you will never need an interpreter because other people have to learn it and not the other way round.

Perfect example is, I had a court date for a traffic ticket, I went to court with the other two hundred people and once inside the non English people with court appointed translators were able to go first, while the rest of us had to wait for them. That's just wrong, why am I being punished for not speaking Spanish? So...the answer is I'm sorry to say Soon.

5 years ago. I really hate that too. I went to McDonalds and only 2 of the workers spoke English. Very aggravating.

REALLY!!!!!!!!! FOR SURE!!!!!!
Don't even get me started on the illegal alien issue again...not
now....but I am so totally fed up with their absolute Arrogance
about their RIGHT == ?????? === to be in our country as they
wish and HOW they wish == and how WE'RE supposed to be
the ones who leave here and go back to Europe....yeah, right!
I'm going to go pack right now...... >:(
And aren't you FED UP like so many of us when you call an 800 # they tell US -- REAL U.S. CITIZENS - to press 1 for
English.....I'd like to tell THEM what to press --- >:( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I really need to get off here for now...so I'm leaving it at that.....I'm just happy to see that it's not "just" me......and tell the
P.C. GESTAPO to just BACK OFF w/ all their TOLERANCE
and DIVERSITY garbage!!!
THIS IS OUR COUNTRY and THEY are TRESPASSING in our country, just because Mexico is RIGHT there, so they think
they can come sneaking in here...but they are being so much more BRAZEN about it now --- while people in OTHER count-ries HAVE to WAIT their turn and come in here the RIGHT way ==== and just because the illegals NEED the money, it is
NO EXCUSE to break the laws and disrespect OUR country.
Just go into a store and try to shoplift -- when you didn't have the money to get wanted -- and see how fast you'd be thrown in jail and prosecuted -- and probably convicted!!!!
Oh, but THAT'S DIFFERENT --- REAL u.s. citizens don't have
the PRIVILEGE of claiming SPECIAL VICTIM STATUS with the p.c. gestapo nazis in this country who coddle illegals and islamic terrorists....THEY'RE SPECIAL...and nobody has the
RIGHT to "offend" them by calling them what they are because
of WHAT they DO!!!! >:(
I K N E W I SHOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN STARTED ON THIS QUESTION!!!!!.............SIGH......but I'm signing out 4 now
See y'all later..... =)

many many many many many many many many many many many many...... etc. years. i hope not in my lifetime. i don't think english will leave us in our lifetimes, it's still a prominant language in parts of asia, most africa, australia, some of europe, some of south america, and mostly in north america. the only continent where nobody speaks english is in antarctica. let's hope the penguins aren't ;) lol! but i don't think english will be a foreign language in america for a VERY VERY long time. i say..... 800+ years.
