I really hope this does because i just spent a lot of money on it and I don't want to be overdressed for my 8th grade dance. So?

Also, last year, the girls were wearing dresses, so its not like they were wearing jeans or khakis or anything.

It's pretty formal, but I wouldn't worry about it. Work the dress if you like it. If you want to dress it down, then leave your hair down and straight, or in a loose bun. Wear minimal jewelry and makeup. Have fun!

P.S.- I doubt you'll be overdressed if it's your end of year dance. Girls tend to go all out, even for eighth grade.

It looks like formal...but so what, its beautiful! I mean formal really is more for the guys, all the girls go all out anyway. In semi-fomal the guys just have to wear khakis, a dress shirt, and a tie. In formal they have to wear a suit or even a tux depending on what it is. And hey its better to be over dressed then underdressed, right?

It is better to be overdressed than underdressed. This is a bit much for an eigth grade dance, but if this is the style of dress that most girls will be wearing then you will look perfect.

Um, you'd be pretty overdressed for a semi-formal. That's more like a prom dress. You should find a dress that's hemline is around the knees and a little less flowery.

It's a beautiful dress! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that dress is more formal than semi-formal. Semi-formal is normally street length, but fancy. However, maybe some others will be dressed in long dresses as well, or if you really are uncomfortable about it, you may be able to return it before it's worn.

Fab dress, bit over the top for semi formal. But what the heck, just go for it.

Maybe dress it down a little with a casual top, shoes, accessories, hairstyle etc. If you go to over the top with these things then you will be too formal.

I would call it a formal & too formal for 8th grade dance.
I have a semi formal party going on & I would never wear it. My friends are adults & very fashion conscious though.

I think it's just plain formal. If your 8th grade dance is anything like mine... the guys had jeans on, or as close as they could get.

Hey, that's a really cute dress. it is a bit over semi-formal, but I've seen a lot worse over the top - so don't worry about it. hope it all works out for you!
