Sorry to hear of your dilemma!
At least you can say that you aimed for your goal and reached it (not everyone can say that now can they)
Ok so you found that it wasnt right for you, the thing you need to do now (i think) is to focus on your future from now, not to dwell on whats happened in the past, has your town got a career adviser that you could talk to about which school to choose? Have a look in your phone book, (yellow pages in UK, don't know what it is in US)
Don't feel lost and hopeless,You should feel proud of what you have achieved. All you need is to find something you'd like to do, try looking in the job section of the paper and put a ring round the jobs you can see yourself doing and maybe go to a school that will help you study towards getting that job! You're only 19 the world is your oyster!!!!!!!!! It's up to you to find the pearl!!!

You say it was your only goal in high school and your congressman called to inform you himself. Sounds like you were under a lot of pressure at a very young age. Was it your dream as a child or were you guided into joining the AFA. I never really found my vocation until I was 24 and now I do a job that I love and also one that "I" chose for myself. You must have been extremely unhapy to have left and there is no failure in knowing your own mind and that something just isnt right for you. In fact that takes an enormous amount of courage. You should be envied, there is a whole world waiting to meet you, waiting for you to make its mark on it in the way you decide. Have fun exploring the boundless opportunities that lie ahead...was it Eddison who said "Every mistake brings me closer to success"? You lost 40 pounds to get in to the AFA, you have the tenacity to succeed. Good luck my friend from the other side of the pond.

Who advised you about dropping out? These questions would have been better answered before you dropped out; that's why I'm asking.
Anyway, you're fine because if you had the academic credentials to get into the AFA, then you can transfer to a number of colleges/universities.
What do you want to do in the future? Start there, and then find a place that has a good program in that specialty.
Good luck!

You wouldn't have been happy where you felt unwanted, so, no you did not make a mistake by leaving there. We find out that sometimes just because we want something, that doesn't make it the best thing for us. Take your time and find where you would really feel comfortable. You know now to visit and get a feel for the culture before you dedicate your life to something. Good luck!

nothing that bad happened, I really think that you were just a bit too young to decide what you wanted to do with the rest of your life. but you have shown will, determination and ambition, and that means that you are a really strong person, I think you'll do fine whatever you choose to do next. right now, just try to relax a while, maybe go travelling for a bit or do some volunteer work until you can figure it out. trust me, you will be able to choose what you want to be. it will just take a while until you make the decision. give it time, it will come. good luck :-)

You done the right thing. But now, after focussing so hard for something for so long yuor looking for something else to obsese over. life is too short. take a year out to recover from your ordeal and you'll be in a better state of mind to find your direction. go out with your friends more, meet some girls/boys and find out more about what kind of person you want to be rather than what you want to acheive.

This isn't something that can be answered in just one answer here are a few things you may want to consider. I want you to ask yourself "Who calls you and to whom are you called?" This is be most basic question that you need to answer in order to find a way out of the tunnel.
