I am moving to Romania in about 3 weeks, currently I am on a low dose of Xanax for anxiety over the move from the US to Brasov. How do I go about getting my medicine once we are there. I only need about 2 more months to ween myself off the them once we are settled. Do I need to visit a Dr or can you get them at a pharmacy.

Welcome to RO! Brasov is a very good place to stay, you'll love it!
I mainly agree with the previous answer:have a doctor write you a prescription. For the average Romanian Xanax can be a bit expensive, but presumably not for you. You should have no problem getting it.

Basically, you have to go and see a doctor. The costs for seeing a doctor are not as high as they are here in the States. Many times with a nice gift and a smile you will be making friends easily.
There is a great chance that the pharmacist will be cooperating also. Brasov is a very old, nice town charged with history. Outstanding ! great for work and specially for vacationing. So, i think that there is no need for you to panic. Go, enjoy the food, the people (most of them are very friendly) eat, eat, eat - good organic food, fruits meets. You will really miss it once you are back in the States.
Go hiking, or skiing. They have beautiful mountains , museums, great theatre as well. Travel around in your free time. Go to the Black Sea, or in the Northern part of Romania. They have wonderful monasteries and churches.
However, don't be overconfident in people. And stay away from gypsies-fortune tellers. Always keep an eye on your belongings. Like everywhere else in the world - there are thieves, or people who would lie to take advantages of foreigners. Be careful.
Are you going to stay at a hotel or do you have other arrangements?
Enjoy your staying there. Discover this part of the world. Might have something good in store for you.
Good luck!

You'll probably need a new prescription. A foreign doctor in general is not licensed in the country and so, the prescription is void.
One important point, in different countries drugs go by different names. Find out the Romanian name of Xanax before you leave.
