I can't think of anymore, but I think you should be careful how you approach showing the clips. It seems to have a lot of potential to backfire on you and lead to a bad grade. Personally I would either make a power-point or a 3D poster to do the presentation. If you do a power-point you could easily search the web and find movie clips that are relevant to the topic. But, If you think the movie will work best I recommend a Cold War era topic, since there are many movies about the Soviet tensions and Space Race stuff.

The Great Raid
From director John Dahl comes the stirring true story of one of the most spectacular rescue missions ever to take place in American history: "the great raid on Cabanatuan," the daring exploit that would liberate more than 500 U.S. Prisoners of War in the face of overwhelming odds. A gripping depiction of human resilience, the film vividly brings to life the personal courage and audacious heroism that allowed a small but stoic band of World War II soldiers to attempt the impossible in the hopes of freeing their captured brothers.
Once a tale shared across the United States, the long-lost story of THE GREAT RAID has been recreated with meticulous authenticity to pay testimony to the many different people, from U.S. commanders to Filipino soldiers to women aid workers to the POWs themselves, who played a part in turning this time of intense hardship and unrelenting danger into a moment of inspiration.

Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925, one of the most famous trials in American history. It deals with teaching the theory of evolution in the public schools. The movie is "Inherit the Wind."
Or, how about the transition from silent movies to talking movies in the 1920s? There's some very cute clips you could show from "Singin' in the Rain."

How about Apollo 13? Good story, happy ending...& TRUE. There are a lot of movies about the Vietnam war - you would have to research to find out what ones are based on true stories from the war. I'm sure there are movies about the JFK assassination. There are Civil War movies - what about Gettysburg?

The Atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I would go for personally its probably the biggest abuse of technological supremacy in history.
Maybe something less dramatic and anti-american would be too your taste.
How about the collapse of the Berlin Wall - The death of communism- iron curtain - cold war etc. Thats a bit more God Bless America.
