It has to fit their personality. I had all these pretty names for my female toy poodle when I first got her, but she was too much of a little fiesty playful thing...so nothing prim and proper. Her name is Bailey. (on the papers, she is Bailey's Irish Creme....her color)
My last dog was a mini doxie...his ears reminded me of the cartoon dog that was an elevator operator. (the bassett hound) So, nothing dignified and stuffy for him either, Baxter.

I like to call a stray dog "Anjing"..because I pity them, but I don't have enough money to feed them so I am not allowed to keep 1 by my parents...
FYI, Anjing means dog in Bahasa Melayu or Malay Language
Funnily, the chinese terms of "An Jing" means silence or shut up...So if you use it, I guess it is not only will allow you to call your dog, it will silence them as well...haha...Useful, eh? XD

Recently got a dog a Labrador couldn't decide wot to call her, finalised with willow or misty, flicked a coin ended up with misty. Still like willow though.
