Had the same problem...made me so self conscious. But i found a great product that works wonders. After I shampoo and condition my hair (this information because many times the conditioner you are using is the cause of the breakout) I use a scrub. Its made by St. Ives and its called Apricot Scrub, Blemish and Blackhead Control. I buy it at the drugstore or supermarket so its easy to find. Try it and see if it works...should see results in about a week. Also, if the acne is heavy, see a dermatologist. He/she will prescribe something with Salicylic Acid. Good Luck!!

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.
In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.
Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.
In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.
If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

Use a body wash that has acne medicine in it and use a loofah or towel to wash your body, concentrating on your chest/shoulders. I also find that it helps to exfoliate with a body scrub on those areas 2-3 times a week. Then apply aloe vera on your chest and shoulders after your shower. If you can't do that ALWAYS apply a oil free non-comedogenic lotion. I've noticed back and chest acne is usually caused by over drying those areas which in turns make them break out even more.

I have the exact same dilema, don't worry this will work especially if you have 2 months to treat it.
First of all buy a reasonably priced scrub--I suggest the brand ganier (the blue bottle is the best for our situation) it'll be about $6 which is awsome. Now each morning and night gently apply scrub to troubled areas with a clean washcloth (as for your back ask somebody to help or wrap the washcloth around a back-scratcher it does work) and after apply a good moisturiser like Dove. And in the shower either get some goodies at the Body Shop or you could make your homemade scrub that consists some expresso coffee mixted with a lot of brown sugar--works great.
As for the dress, go you. It takes guts to wear something like it.

It is not acne! It is a scream for help about something you are putting on your skin...it could be in the detergent...fabric softner or something else...I use detergent from the health food store...that has little or no chemicals for best results...remember after the shower and we dry off or skin is open and ready to absorb bit from whatever we are wearing...so keep the chemicals down or non existing. My friend using a detergent that is strong smelling, then a smelly fabric softner, then the shower soap, moisturing cream, then perfume and she wants to know why her skin is a mess....dah give the skin a vacation...and get that we all smell great just because we showered. try it you'll see it work for you.

I would strongly recommend against Proactive. I used it and my acne got MUCH worse...and it wasn't one of those it gets better b4 it gets worse things. It just kept getting worse. I would strongly recommend going to a dermatologist. It may take a couple tries but it is definitely worth it. I tried a few things before we found what worked. I have been using minocycline for about 4 months now and am totally acne free.
