Honestly, I've never been there. But...

I've heard great things about the state. The northern area, up towards and including the upper peninsula, is supposed to be just beautiful, with gently rolling hills and pine forests. I'm sure the fishing excursions on the lakes during the summer are second to none. Plus, with it's location close to Canada, summers can't be too unbearable.

However, I've heard horror stories about Detroit. 'Nuff said.

I'm from Kentucky, so coming from a more southern culture, I'm not sure how much I'd like Michigan after a while. But, the vast majority of people I've met from there have been very nice and warm (and a lot of Michiganders DO live here in Kentucky.)

If you're from Michigan or visit it often, chime in. Thanks!

Oh, and I've heard Michiganders hate Ohio as much as Kentuckians. (Just thought I'd throw it in...)

Well speaking as a buckeye (only by location), I do still love Michigan (still a Wolverine at heart)! Yes, the upper peninsula is absolutely beautiful, the scenery is breath taking. I lived in Michigan for 29 years and have only lived in Ohio for the last 10 years, but I try to get back 'home' when I can. I think that you would like Michigan if you visited. If you get the chance I would recommend visiting Mackinac Island, it's gorgeous! By the way, I've been to Kentucky many times and also think that it's a beautiful state.

up north is great i love it. I live in Davison which is 5 mins from flint. The only problem we have is yes we hate Ohio but not really Kentucky and the Job rates sucks. Nobody can find jobs so if u need a good job then dont come. Most people are leaving because they cant find work. Weather is unpredictable but nice. Northern michigan is pretty cool just ask yourself would u want to be either a yupper or a troul.

I've lived in Michigan almost all of my life, just north of Detroit and love it here. But it's not perfect and the high unemployment is taking it's toll.

My only complaint about Detroit is that there isn't anything to do there. Thank goodness no one buys into everything they hear ( ie your "horror" stories) or we wouldn't have had the Superbowl, Wrestlemania, and what was the other big one? Oh yeah, the world series, all within the last 1 1/2 years.

with a bit of luck Michigan State. listed here are my 2 completely unscientific explanation why: a million. coach D'Antonio is out of the wellbeing facility. He hopes to be in Ann Arbor. have been given any thought what a improve that could provide to the Spartans? 2. In 1999 I have been given a clean washer & dryer. I had an extremely undesirable chilly. Michigan State beat Michigan. We have been given a clean washeer & dryer this week I even have an extremely undesirable chilly. i desire this performs out. In all seriousness, if the Spartan protection (that's plenty extra desirable than Michigan's) can comprise Denard a minimum of a tiny bit the Spartans have a raffle. If the Wolverines can stress turnovers, they have a raffle. I basically desire that's good, sparkling activity with a precise score.

I'm in Michigan! I don't hate Kentucky or Ohio. In fact, I like to watch Ohio State....as long as they're not playing against U of M. :) I live in West Michigan right now, it's where I'm from, but I lived in the Detroit suburbs for 13 years and you only hear the bad in the media. There's also plenty of cultural things to do and see. My sister lives in the Upper Peninsula and it's like another state up there, so beautiful! Summers can be ghastly humid, but I like hot weather....anything else you wanna know?

I grew up in Detroit and its every bit as bad as you have heard. Maybe even worse. The U.P. is very nice. If you were to move here that would be that place to go. Actually everywhere in Michigan is pretty nice if its 40 miles away from Detroit. The only problem with the area right now is the reliability it has on the auto industry. With the big 3 crumbling right now things are very tough around here.

Buckeyes suck!!! Stay clear of Detroit for sure, or at least plan ahead where you are going, and don't explore! Some of the other cities in the lower part can be unsavory too. The people in the UP are like from another area entirely. Most people are very friendly and if you are broke down, some one will stop to help you! There are thousands of places to visit in the UP if you like the natural setting. So many waterfalls! The fishing is good, and the fish are pretty clean, unlike the fish in the lower part. If you come, I hope you enjoy it!

I like Michigan we have lots of wildlife, beautiful scenery and 4 seasons the only bad thing is the seasons get confused sometimes. We had snow yesterday Easter Sunday and week before last we were all in shirt sleeves and it was in the 70's. We do have a big issue here right now with unemployment and a lot of homes are being foreclosed on.

I do not know too much about the great lake state... but my best friend just moved there about a year ago... she seems happy, likes the neighborhoods, likes the cheaper housing... and I plan to visit this summer... so we'll see. But I'm from California...it's going to be totally different that what I know, and I would never leave my state to live in another...

hey, I'm in Kentucky too. I've been to Michigan several times including Detroit, which I really enjoyed. The Motor Museum is really cool. the only thing I can say bad about it is that the roads are really bumpy :)
