Well, when they say she's "10 weeks" pregnant, that really is based on her last period, so she *really* got pregnant about 8 weeks 5 days ago. Confusing, but it's true. If you want to know an exact date, ask the OB at her next visit.

Dates of conception are very difficult to calculate. It seems confusing, but the length of a pregnancy isn't calculated by the date of conception. It's actually calculated by the start date of the last period. The reason for this is because it's impossible to know on which day a woman conceived (there are many factors involved, and some are impossible to accurately pinpoint). A doctor would have a difficult time determining a due date if they chose one by deciding on a date of conception. Instead, doctors consider the first day of the pregnancy to be the first day of the last period. With that info, they estimate the due date, which is 40 weeks from the start of the last menstrual period. So there's about a 2 week period where your girlfriend wasn't actually pregnant. Conception actually took place somewhere around 8 1/2 to 9 weeks ago.

So, even though it's about impossible to figure out the actual date of conception, you can try to figure out which week it happened.

Well this is a little confusing, but they calculate by LMP (last menstrual period) and according to how far along she is her LMP would have been January 25, 2007. Most women ovulate around 14 days after their LMP. So lets just say she is "normal" and would have conceived around the week of February 5th. Give or take a few days. Hope this info helps. And keep in mind that not every girl is the same. She may ovulate at a different time.

Because the duration of her pregnancy is based on the start of her last period, not on the actual day of ovulation or conception, it's hard to say for sure. Most likely, the end of January or beginning of February assuming she has a near average ovulation cycle (midpoint between the start of each period). Given how long sperm can live in the womb (you can get pregnant even if you ovulate a few days after unprotected sex), there's a pretty good-sized window of opportunity there. Unless she was tracking ovulation symptoms, you and she may never know the exact date - especially if you were having sex daily.

There is no way to know for sure, no matter what, because sometimes it takes longer for the sperm to fertilize the egg and implant, etc..

But doctors count from the first day of her last menstrual period, which is about 14 days BEFORE she is actuall pregnant. So in other words, if she is 10.5 weeks prego, she got pregnant about 8 weeks ago.

Count back 8 weeks and five days and that should be her conception date. Her being 10 weeks and 5 days is counting from her LMP.

It depends. Is this the gestational age, or LMP (date since last menstrual period)? Here is a link that might help you, if you know the first day of her last period (before she got pregnant). Gestational age is the actual age since the day of conception, which is usually 2 weeks after the first day of the last menstrual period.
