I bet the captain was drunk to hit a large marker like that. If it was during the day light. At night going to fast and or drunk. It can be fixed, a few shops in the Finger Lakes specializes on repairs to fiberglass. One shop at the spring boat show has before and after photos. Of a boat that a large tree fell on it.

You will need to go to a marina for supplies. You will need fiber filler plus marine fiberglass & hardener. It will have to be painted once the repair is made. Most boat painting must be completed by a licensed marine painter. You can't just paint it in your back yard. It isn't hard to fix the hole and a good marina will be glad to give you all the advise you need to do the repair properly...Good luck with your repair...

Without seeing a picture of the vessel it's kind of hard to tell. My guess though would be that if she was out of the water for that long chances are the keel is what is being said to be warped & fixing this would be equal to buying a new vessel. Memories on the boat are great but please do not make the last one be taking the boat out and having her sink on you. If you like boating that much...save to buy a vessel that is sea worthy!
