Is it safe or possible to get pregnant if you have an ovarian cyst at the time? my friend had a cyst and is now wanting a baby, however she doesn't know if the cyst is gone. If she quit taking her pills 2 weeks ago and had a normal cycle on 4/4 she would ovulate on the 18, she has a sonogram on the 25th, will it show if she concieved, how likely is it for her to even get pregnant if she still has the cyst

I used to have cysts all the time, and some that were painful, so I went to the doctor about it. Luckily for me, they just resolved on their own. But later, another gynecologist told me that every woman develops cysts when they are ovulating. The egg develops in a follicle and a cyst forms. He says at any one time, you can do an ultrasound and see little cysts in the ovaries. So, now I don't know how dangerous they are. Most of the time, we don't even realize we have them.

If she just stopped taking her pills, I would use some other type of contraceptive for the first month, because you want to be sure your body is "back to normal" before trying to get pregnant. Her hormones will still be fluctuating, and you want your body to be nice and healthy, since early pregnancy is so risky.
