Gene was awesome, but Fred was a perfectionist. I saw this thing about some old MGM musicals last Sunday on PBS, and they showed Fred Astaire when he had to re-shoot a dance number, and they did a split screen, he was so synchronized. You don't get talent like that nowadays. Pity.
