As a former teacher myself, some kids wind you up just to be smart in front of their friends. I think your friend got off lightly, I would have nailed her to the blackboard.

No, it was not okay & this type of language needs to be reported to a teacher or the school principal. He's not setting a good example by using such profanity.

Gee, trackpride, " do you really think it's cool to call a student the names you are called? You call that a sign of closeness? Not me, that kind of language is unacceptable.

I you mean as*hole, then no it is not OK. That is a very demeaning name to use toward anyone, but especially unprofessional for a teacher. It does not matter the age of the student, someone with a college education should be able to express their emotions without using such language.

if that student acts like a **** then maybe he/she deserves to be called a **** .
Now there's probably a better way for that teacher to deal with it, but seeing the total stupidity of the latest generation, I'm sorry but I would cut that teacher some slack. Todays bratty kids put their teachers through hell.
In my days they didn't call students names, they just slapped the snot out of their sorry faces.

Of course not...teachers are employed to teach. Their lack of etiquette is one thing, but when you add that to their personal feelings, you've got a problem "teacher" on your hands. A teacher can get as mad as they want, but there are rules (at the school) and procedures to follow so they don't have to become personally involved in a students behavior, not withstanding of course, the usual "would you please not" do this, or do that. Beyond that, there are rules they should follow, and they know it!

depends on what is behind the ***'s in your question. If it was an insult or derogatory term, then no, the teacher should not have that right. A teacher is supposed to be setting an example for the children in their care. By insulting someone, that teacher is sending the message that that type of behavior is acceptable.

A teacher should never call a student anything but their name, Point blank, period. And no I don't think its right for the teacher to call a student a *****?

No! I do not believe that it is appropriate for a teacher to call a student "names"> Teachers are supposed to be " role models " to a certain extent. I realize that there is a double standard, I hate to tell you what they call my neighbor Catherine who teaches High School. It is appalling, and there is nothing that she can do about if; but it is not necessary to sink to their level.

there is a guideline that teahers have to follow..and i think cussing is one of them.. its not right, but i guess they can do it unless a student brings it up to a higher command.. when i was in the 5th grade i had a teacher that called a student a ********* when ever she complained about stuff but no one did anything about it so she pretty much got away with it..

No, it is not OK. No teacher has the right to insult in anyway one of his/her students. The principal should be informed about it.
