How do I change my tourist visa to a student's visa? How long does this process take?

Hi I'm a tourist here in Los Angeles and I want to change my visa to a student's visa. I wanna know how the process works and how long it the process takes. Also an estimate of how much it'll cost. Thank you so much!

Providing you have not violated any of the conditions of your tourist visa, you should be able to get a students visa in a few months if you can prove the financial resources for tuition and living expenses, and be accepted by a college.

If you have violated any of the conditions of the tourist visa, be prepared to be turned down (happened to someone I knew).

You will get a student visa after you have been accepted by a college and registered at that college. The college will help you with the student visa.
