I am watching a family friend's home this weekend & it's her birthday. I'd like her to come home to some small birthday surprise.... but don't have much cash. Any suggestions?

Last year I printed out 50 ways to say "happy birthday" in different languages & tied them to helium balloons and placed them around the house. she loved it.

the suggestions so far have been wonderful. truly. but, i guess i should have added that she is very particular about what she eats. and sweets aren't one of the things she eats. Or else i would do a cake or something like that.

Any other suggestions?

That's easy. . .bake her a cake!!! I mean, who doesn't love cake and the opportunity to make a wish? It's simple and thoughtful, plus you can customize it to her taste. All you need is a box of cake mix: $0.99, frosting: $1.50, and any decos or candles $2.50. Everything else should either be in her fridge or pantry. Add a card or flowers next to the cake and you're set! It doesn't get cheaper than that. Hope it works out for you :)

If you have a printer just make a card or hand write one .. maybe clean up the place really well . do a bit of laundry for her and then don't worry about it .
When she comes home give her a hug tell her how you feel about her and wish her a happy birthday .
I am sure she will love that every bit as much as getting a present .. we are all spoiled when it comes to that but a true birthday wish comes from the heart not the wallet ..

Make her a cake or some cookies! There's nothing better than something you've created yourself.
