how much would it cost for a Mercedes C230 paint job, right now the color is Pewter, I'm looking for maybe Black or Red.
Also, would I have to inform the dealer that I bought it from and the insurance? Or am I free to just change the color of it.

a decent paintjob will cost you at least 2-3 grand. A nice one could be 5+ easily.
anything under that 2-3 grand mark will be a terrible paintjob/worthless.
i advise against respraying a car.

Get it painted, if you want. Changing the color may lower the resale value of the car, but if that's what you want then go ahead. Call the MB dealer and see what he estimates the paint job to be. I'll guess 5000 or maybe a little less. 2-3000 elsewhere? It all depends. Good luck

Inform your insurance company, and for a basic paint job, you're looking at maybe $250-300.

NO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO INFORM ANYONE AS YOU ARE THE BUYER AND THE LEGAL OWNER OF THE VEHICALE AND DOESNT SAY THAT YOU CAN ARE CANT CHANGE THE COLOR OF YOUR VEHICALE AS LONG AS YOU KEEP UP ON YOUR PAYMENTS THERE SHOULDNT BE A PROBLEM THANKS...
