Note: This is a serious question, don't give me any political correctness bullcrap.

I wonder this because, I once heard that it is possible, you just can't see it.

It is possible and I have been sun burned before. I was at a Jazz Festival in 98 degree plus weather with no shade and needless to say I got sun burnt. I turn a copper color or dark red. Within hours the pain is unbearable and within days... I begin to peel. I treat it with Shea Butter or Aloe Vera lotion. I heard Noxema is good too! I have fair skin and there ain't no political correctness about that son....

It is possible for black people to get sun burned and to get skin cancer. I have not had a sunburn but have felt like I was getting one so I got out of the sun. It seemed to work. Black people don't have to wear as high a SP sunscreen as white people or others with a fair complexion because of our skin tone. It is almost like an automatic sunscreen.

Oh yes! And it hurts like crap! I You could see it on me too. It looked a little reddish. It didn't look as harsh as it would on a caucasian person, but it didn't feel good at all. From then on, I made sure I kept sunscreen when I stayed in the sun over a long period of time. All people should wear it, regardless of how dark their skin is.

My boyfriends mother who is very light skinned gets burned very easily. She has to wear strong sunscreen even if only in the sun for a short period of time.

Darker skin people are more at risk than lighter skin people. Because of the dark skin, they more likely get burnt. All people need to wear sunblock.
