I'm reading the book Undercurrents for my book club. I just would like to know some stuff that happens in the book. Can anyone help?

Also I know the mother dies before the first chapter and her dad gets a new wife 8 mont later and they move into her inherited dead aunt edna's california house on the beach that is about hundred year old. i DON'T THINK IT'S ABOUT UNDERWATR!
