When you see 'of', it means multiply.
1/2 x 2/3 = 2/6 = 1/3
When multiplying fractions, you multiply the top row and the bottom row.

To do this you need to multiply the numbers together.
2/3*1/2 is 2/6 or 1/3.
Just because 2/3 is a fraction, don't let it scare you. It's the same process if this was 1/2 of 4 or 2/3 of 36.

1/3.
First, of means times here.
If you multiply top times top and bottom times
bottom, you get 2/6, which reduces to 1/3.
Or, take a square and divide it into 3
equal parts and shade 2 of the parts.
Half of what you shaded makes 1/3.

1/2 of 2 is 1, which comes from 2*1/2=1, so
1/2 of 2/3
=2/3*1/2
=2/6
=1/3 (Which, if you think about it, makes sense because you have TWO thirds and a half of that is ONE third.)

think this problem as a percentage problem. for this problem
=> 100% -> 2/3 so 1/2 (which is 50%) -> ?
therefor (50%x2/3)/100%
50x2
--------
3x100
=1/3
