Im trading Chris Carpenter and Carlos Guillen for Hanley Ramirez and Juan Pierre. Im in desperate need of SB in a 9 team h2h league. Speed dominates half of the offensive categories being 2B,3B, and SB. I have backup pitching for Carpenter. I have Johan Santana, C.C. Sabathia, Justin Verlander, Cole Hamels, Chris Capuano,, Jose Valverde,a nd Francisco Rodriguez.

I would have to say do it. Hanley is looking really good so far and Pierre will hopefully regain form. Your pitching is good enough and will not need Carpenter who might flop horribly this year. Plenty of pitchers will emerge throughout the season and if you pay enough attention, you might be able to pick up a Cy Young candidate from the FA list. Guillen could have a good year and will get you doubles so if you can keep him somehow, do it. He is a great Average hitter who will get you a little bit of everything. Good luck on the season.

Absolutely, You have four studs in SP to replace Carpenter (Santana, who I picked #1 overall, Sabathia, Verlander, and Hamels). Capuano is also an excellent starting pitcher, so you won't feel Carpenter's loss at all.
Ramirez is going to be one of the best fantasy SS's this year, and Juan Pierre will be solid for you in swiping the bags.
The only way I don't do this trade is if you think you can get even more back for Carpenter and Guillen, but given that Carpenter is injured currently, I doubt you'll be able to.

Since it is a H2H and speed is very important then yes this is a good deal for you. You have plenty of pitching to absorb the loss of Carpenter and Ramirez and pierre will be dominant speed guys and will be among the league leaders in SB, doubles and triples. It seems to make very good sense from a points position and you have enough pitching to be just fine so make the deal.

yes, 1) the cardinals start the year with bad offense 2)carpenter is likely out another start 3)hanley ramirez has cabrera to protect him so he should get plenty of pitches, 4)it loos like you have plenty of pitching 5)usually there are plenty of pitcher that you can pick up because they come from no where 6) carlos guillen is playing in a tough division so i dont think he'll repeat what he did last year and Juan Pierre will have plenty of opportunities to steal bases with a coach like grady little

Definitely. Carpenter has arm problems, and this is not the first time in his career for that. He had Tommy John surgery in 2003.
Ramirez is a lock for both SB's and offensive numbers. Pierre will get a lot of SB's also, his average may not be very high and HR's will be non-existent.

Jual Pierre doesn't hit doubles. He'll steal bases, but he has no pop. He's a slap singles hitter.
Ramirez is nice.
But for Chris Carpenter, you should be able to get a guy like Jose Reyes back. And then you're set.

YES!!!!! Carpenter may be lost for a HUGE part of the season, maybe all of it...., trading Carpenter and getting something for him at this point is great!
