I dont know if you could call it looking down. Many people would. I think that they just have a view of women's place in society that the rest of us believe is repressive.
To them their view is the norm I suppose.

I'm not Arab or Muslim...but it's pretty safe to say regardless of religion and whatnot...society in general looks down on women. It's been seen throughout history. I mean for goodness sake they couldn't vote until 1919 in America a country that was established more then 100 years beforehand!

In much the same way Feminists embrace President Clinton despite legal cases charging him with sexual discrimination and rape; Liberals embrace the "tolerance" of Muslim cultures, despite repeated and outrageous incidents of supression and denigration of women. Just take the most recent case of an arab woman who was kidnapped and gang raped being charged under Muslim law for "being alone with a man who was not her relative or husband." It defies logic, rational thought and basic human decency.

if this is the case then you would see or hear about Arabic women fleeing their own countries to be in the arms of men other than their own (think about it). The media show cases they want people to see to serve other peoples interests… all been paid for. Rational people get their info from descent and non-bias sources.

Duh. They are treated like property. They have no rights except the ones given them by their husbands or families if not married. Dogs are treated better in the middle east tham women. The libs are in for a big surprise when they get their wish and democracy fall and socialism takes over. It will be one small step to taking the rights of women away. Roe V. Wade under Islamic law, forget about it.

Cyrus is a muslim apologist which discredits his answer. Long Haired Freaky Person looks like a woman.

To answer your question YES. They are at best treated as 3rd class citizens with no status or rights. It amazes me how American liberals are so sympathetic to their jihadist cause when in fact they treat woman so badly.

Muslim culture does. The following verse from the Koran is ample proof (in particular look at the beating part).

sura 4:34

Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and forsake them in beds apart, and beat them. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them. Surely God is high, supreme.
