Jack Dawson, 3rd class passenger is not a real person, he never existed, was never on the Titanic.

However there is a J. Dawson that was a trimmer on the Titanic. He was 23 at the time of the sinking and did not survive, he's buried in Halifax. After the movie came out tons of teenage girls went to Halifax and as I've heard it described "trashed the place" with flowers and pics of Leo thinking Leo was indeed J.Dawson.

No there was not a Jack Dawson on the Titanic, However there was a Joseph Dawson, and even though Titanic's story line was completely fictional, people who saw that movie, often paid respect to his grave.

Nope at least not as a passenger.

The link below has the Titanic Passenger Manifest broken down in to 1st, 2nd and 3rd class passengers. No Jack Dawson listed. It also has a crew manifest.

On the crew Manifest, under Engineering Crew, there is a Dawson, J., Trimmer, listed.

"No. The character played by Leonardo DiCaprio isn't based on a real person. The grave marked 'J. Dawson' is Halifax's Fairview Cemetary belongs to 23-year-old James Dawson, a trimmer on the Titanic's crew."

Yes there was but he's not related to the movie version, not at all. He was a sailor on the ship, worked in the engine room, and there is a grave for him in New Foundland. But again, he's not connected to the movie at all. It was just a weird happenstance that the same name was chosen as the one in De Caprio's part.

No there wasn't. fortunately we'd all love to believe that jack and rose existed some 100 years ago after watching the movie. but the truth is, it was a movie after all. a work of fiction. it was hollywood-nized you can say. directors and producers needed something juicy to make their movie, so the best way was to create jack and rose. truth hurts. hope that helps.

Can't really be sure. Lots of passengers paid for steerage and didn't need to register. There is no complete list of all passengers on the voyage
