The engagement ring? If a couple breaks up after the engagement ring is given...who do you think gets it?
I have heard if the woman breaks of the relationship the man gets the ring back, if he breaks it off she gets to keep it what do you think?

Kind of in the wrong section, yes...but I have learned many things from The People's Court. It's different in every state. An engagement ring is a gift in contemplation of marraige, so in some states if the marraige doesn't happen, the ring goes back. In other states (like you said above) it is decided by who broke the contract. Meaning who's at fault for the break up, not who did the breaking up. For example, if he cheats on her and she ends the engagement because of it some states would decide that he broke the contract and she keeps the ring.

She should give it back...It's a symbol of a commitment, if they broke up there is no commitment anymore.
