I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU THAT WIN IS WIN NO MATTER BY WHICH MARGIN THE GAME IS WON BUT IN THE CASE OF COMPARISON TO TWO WINS A RUN MARGIN OR NET RUN RATE IS HIGHLY NEEDED.

Well, I think it's always going to be better for a team's confidence to win by a big margin. A team who can win a match by 100 runs will be happier than a team who wins by just one run.

Although the margins of victory are never really taken into account (unless you're in a competition such as the World Cup where Net Run Rate is taken into consideration) a team will always want to win by as big a margin as possible, especially since the players' individual statistics will look a lot better!

Yes i agree that a win is win and margin only matters when your are qualifying for next round on run rate basis in some tournament !! there margin does matter !!and thats not always the case !!so it does not matter whether you win by One run or 10 wicktes ! A Win is Win and its precious !

Every team will take a win when and how they can.

You can only beat the team you are playing against. But consider this hypothetical...

Australia makes 300 and then bowls out Bangladesh for 200. Australia wins by 100.

But if Bangladesh bat first - they make 200, Australia can only win by 1 to 6 runs. Sure, the win is counted in wickets (eg. they won by 7 wickets), but most people will only remember who won, and maybe how many overs to spare...

Ask South Africa how much they lost by the other day - do you think they care?

Yes, I fully agree with you that a win is win and margin of win is immaterial. The margin will only matter if you have to keep your net run rate high to enter the next stage in case of a tie.
