I was stopped at a light the other day and my car died. Hasnt started since. it has 60, 000 miles on it was running fine up until it took a crap. So far I know i am getting spark, I can hear the fuel pump when i turn the key, its not the starter or the battery. I sprayed some started fluid in the intake duct and it started for a moment then shut off again. So its a fuel problem right? Anyone have any ideas????

Here is a solution I copied from website below:

I am assuming the engine will crank over and over and over but will not start. This is not like a dead battery and NOTHING is happening, right?

You need to determine which key ingredient you are missing - spark, fuel, and compression. I would first listen for the 2-second whine of the fuel pump when you turn the ignition key to the ON position.

If you do not hear the whine, get someone to bang on the bottom of the fuel tank with their fist or rubber hammer AS you crank over the engine. This can jump-start a weak fuel pump.

If you think the fuel pump is working, then check to see if you have spark at the spark plugs. If no spark, work backwards and check the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft sensors.

Last is compression. If the timing chain broke or "jumped time" the engine will spin over much faster than normal and make a funnier noise since there is no resistance inside the engine it will sound different as you crank the engine over.

You can also remove the oil filler cap and look inside the valve cover as someone cranks the engine over. If you do not see anything moving inside, the timing chain could have a problem.

just because you here the pump doesnt mean it has the proper pressure test the presure it needs to be around 60 pounds if its less thain 40 it wont run a hose in the tank can break and even thouch the pump is working you get no pressure could also be the injector fuse to test you need a noid light to test for power at the injector 2002 cars may beable to pull pump pressure with a good scan tool that reads live data

Your problem could be with your key. try using a your spare key. since 1999 on most modle gm vehecles the ignitions have sensors and if that key isn't exactly right it will kill the fuel pump and will not start for 30 minutes or so even with a brand new key.

Do you have a security light on? Are you using a different key?
Check the fuel pressure from the fuel pressure regulator.

the battery is dead even if all the lights and the radio comes on there is not enough power in the battery to turn over the car so you can do one of two things eaither have someone jump the car and drive it around so that the alternator can charge the battery or just pick up a new battery. Hope it helped :D

Clogged fuel filter or a bad check valve in the filter?
