Hi everyone! I love making films, not for the money but I'd like people to see my work and appriciate it, I know its a tough industry to get into, so do you suggest I go yo film school or persue my dream through other means, or just quit and do what would be a normal job.

There's a book called "Do what you love and money will follow." I run a two year college accredited art school and I can not emphasize enough the importance of education. If the arts get you an education thats a good thing. A friend of mine went to a film school, when he graduated he got a job editing promo's for TVland spots, then he went to the discovery channel. He makes really good money and it affords him to finance his passion of independent film making while step by step he gets closer to a world of people who's lives are framed in film and he's learning and earning every step of the way. Education, film, Yes, go for it! It's a lot more likely to happen if you get an education and surround yourself with like minded people who can help guide your future. Lights...Camera....Action! Roll 'em!

I went to film school and it was a great experience for me. I'm in the on set tech end of the industy (gaffer and audio) but i learned a lot about the jobs that other people do (director, producer, etc) and knowing that helps me interact with them on set or in meetings. I guess the best part about it was that i discovered that i like to write and now i have a whole new part of the industry to work in. I would do as much research as you can i checked out 11 schools before choosing....some people with an office, 6 sony pd150s and Avid on their lap top will call themselves a film school.

If it's what you really want to do then do it. My good friend just graduated film school and as we speak is on a plane headed to Pakistan to do her first paying gig. A documentary. If you want it bad enough go for it and the sky is the limit!

Follow your dream. If you don't you will regret it for the rest of your life. And trust me, before you know it, you're over 50 and looking back.

i say just go for it. it doesn't matter if you would succeed or not, what really matter is you tried and had fun. life is too short, don't complicate things. do what you have to and what you can. take the risk!
