I think its electro-magnetic interference. Maybe through electrical storms and/or plate shifts. There are other "Triangles" through out the world.

Statistically speaking, there is no Bermuda Triangle mystery. Disappearances and shipwrecks do not occur there with any greater frequency than any average area of the same size in the North Atlantic.

It's just an urban type legend. A guy named Berlitz wrote a book about it and claimed all the accidents were caused by undersea civilizations. He has since been debunked with many follow on scientific and not sc-fi books.
