Ah, all the negative answers about dying and deformed babies! Today's pills have such low doses of hormones that they have NO effect on the unborn child. Studies have proven that these babies conceived on the pill have the same percentage of defects and miscarriages as any other babies. The pill is only supposed to stop you from ovulating, not kill an embryo already formed! Some pills also reduce the amount of uterine lining you have, which causes shorter, lighter periods and can prevent the embryo from attatching to your uterine wall, much like Plan B. But once you're pregnant and that embryo is attatched to the lining, the pill won't harm the baby or do anything further to stop the pregnancy.

* If you accidentally took some birth control and then found out you are pregnant, the baby should be fine. However, see your doctor to make sure you are taking the right steps. * Studies have shown that taking birth control pills while pregnant results in an increased risk of birth defects. * The writing on the package states "Discontinue use if you become pregnant." If you know that you're pregnant stop taking the pills. (They wouldn't do you much good anyway!) * I think what this question is asking is if you're pregnant but don't know it yet and you're still taking the pill, if it's dangerous to the fetus. Well, I'm in that exact situation right now, and my doctor and obstetrician both said not to worry about it. * There is no proof that the birth control pill will harm your baby. If you are sure you are pregnant, stop taking the pill and see your doctor. Don't be overly alarmed if this happens. It's happened to others like yourself and the babies turn out perfectly healthy. * From what I have read yes it can. Look on any warning labels or the fact sheet sometimes given with the prescription. You should get to your doctor immediately for a test and discuss with him also.

whats up with all these negative answers some people are givin u?damn... their negative. I take birth control and think I'm pregnant and if I don't start my period by the end of this wk I will stop(since I'm due Friday). If you become pregnant on the pill the baby should be fine, I hear soo many women get pregnant on the pill- hey if its suppose to happen it will! So yeah it ccan cuase some affects but rarely does....consider some of the negative results u get but not all of them, some are very irrational. Most likely the baby will be just fine. I'm positive...not a negative person like them others

It's advised to discontinue taking birth control as soon as you learn or suspect you may be pregnant...my aunt got pregnant with both her kids (13 years apart) while on the pill...the first one she found out relatively quickly and the second it was 3 months before she learned that she did not have an ulcer, she was pregnant. In both cases, neither child suffered ill effects from her continuing to take the pill.

Taking birth control pills. hence the hormones, I am quite sure is a high category for pregnancy and should not be taken for the possibility of damage to the fetus. I knew someone once who did this for a few weeks, not knowing, but the baby turned out fine.

umm nothing. i was still taking mine for 10 weeks, i didnt notice my period wasnt comming because its always been irregular and i still took my pill not knowing i was pregnant, and everything is perfect with my baby and im in week 34. the pill is supposed to stop the egg from being released and what does it matter if the egg is released if your already pregnant. thats why i think it doesnt matter if you keep taking it or not. not to mention a lot of people get pregnant on the pill and keep taking it not knowing and there babys are perfectly healthy.

I took my pills for 6 to 7 weeks (I had what I thought was a period), my daughter is now 20 and a mom herself. Once I found out I stopped. Normal pregnancy and normal delivery.
If you think you are take a test, if still unsure go to the DR.

Nothing will happen. You are just encouraged to stop taking bc when you discover you are pregnant. The hormones are not going to disrupt or end the pregnancy nor are they going to harm the fetus. Best of luck!

You will more than likely miscarry if you are pregnant and still taking birth control. However, the pill's big thing is that if fertilization does occur, it keeps the egg from attaching to the uterus, and that is what make is work, so it would be rare that you'd be pregnant and while still taking BC pills.
