I think if it isn't claimed then the money is given back when reported to the police. After it was given back I'd keep some and give some to charity, namely the charity at the source where 100% goes to the charity. The part that I kept would go towards something for school.

I would turn it into the police. Someone may need that money to survive. I certainly wouldn't want the bad Carma from keeping it. Plus how could you enjoy anything you bought with it. Although charity is a good idea, I'm sure they would not want the donation in this way. What if it were your Grandparents $$ and they needed it for prescriptions to survive, pay rent, and so on.
If the $$ is not claimed, the police will give it to you and then it is yours to do with as you please.

I can understand why the world is in the mess it is. Everyone so far has said to keep it, inferring that one must be made to do otherwise. Shame on you all!
You could hand it in to the Police, in the UK if it isn't claimed within 3 months, it's yours to do whatever you want with. Nice to know that none of you give two hoots about the person losing the money !

I would not turn it over to the police, however I would look in the newspaper and watch TV to see if anyone lost it. If it was some old person or some mother with children I would probably return it. It would depend on my level of guilt.

If there was absolutely no way to find the owner I'd keep it. I wouldn't dream of giving it to the police, at least not here. All the cops are crooked.

If I gave it to the Police they'd probably keep it for themselves.
I would give it to Charity. To Cancer Research UK.

I have found a significant amount of money before and I turned it over to the police. I never heard about it again.

I would give it to charity because they need it more than I do. I love seeing those children happy by just recieving a barbie or a piece of clothing. It touches my heart.

don't involve police - they aren't the most honest people.
check lost and found ads (on-line news papers)
If you don't need it, charity is a good idea
or celebrate with your favorite "not so well off" friends
haven't you ever lost money and hoped that the person who found it needed it?
