After the shower is good or get some steam on your face. You want your pores to be open when you shave and steam does that. I used to shave just "whenever" but know I make sure I get some steam around. I have had better shaves since then. Less irritation.

Yes, shave after a shower or at least after you've been in the shower for awhile. This way, the skin and hair softer, making it easier and more comfortable to shave.

If you are shaving with an electric you should shave before. If you use it after a shower it shreds your skin off because it is weakened/softened by the water. But with a normal razor its best afterwards.

Shave before a shower. Wash your face with warm water, shave, and rinse with cold water. Straight after your shower use a shaving balm.

Depends which bit you're shaving. In general, the hotter you are the easier it is to shave, as the pores will open and the hairs will protrude further from the skin.
Why not do what I do?
Don't shave.
I look kinda hot, don't you think?

Yes to both. Beard hair is as tough when dry as a copper wire of the same thickness. The shower softens it, and gets rid of the grime that causes razor drag.

Ideally you should wet your face with as hot a water as you can manage, but usually this is done by splashing the face. Mousturiser is an excellent idea which is defeintley receommended...
