Well, the guy in tha background said "hos" first and Imus added the "Nappy headed". I wonder if the other guy got fired. I dont personally like Don Imus but I think he was railroaded and made into a scapegoat.

Absolutely Not!!!
Yes, what he said was not exactly professional but he does have the right to free speech. That is one of the freedoms that we have in this great country. So, yeah he should be able to speak his mind about blacks, whites, asians, and whatever other race. I don't think that makes him racist either. I have been a vicim of discrimination on more than one occasion and it was race related. Yes, I was upset but knew the people had the right to say whatever it was they wanted to say.
I think some "people" can be a little too sensitive as well.
Like Sharpton has never said anything bad about non- blacks.

It has nothing to do with what Al and Jesse think, and more that this idiot who KNOWS better thought he could get away with saying something so incredibly stupid ON A RADIO SHOW THAT MANY PEOPLE LISTEN TO. People are allowed to have an opinion, and if he is secretly (though the secrets out now) racist, that is his own thing. For ONE- he didnt even apologize until TWO days after he said it. Not two seconds after it slipped out- accident then? Probably not. TWO- If this was the other way around, and a black radio show host made a racist comment about a white person, they would have been fired on the spot. I dont care who this guy is, but ANYONE who spreads hate when in a position that many could hear should be removed from said position, and a more responsible person should be put there.

Well, notwithstanding what you think of Jackson and Sharpton (both big opportunists if you ask me), Imus did say what is alleged--heard the recording myself.
Frankly, I think we as a nation have gotten too "politically correct" and have gotten away from both freedom of speech and the concept that words generally cannot hurt you unless you let them.
So, no, I don't think he should be fired for expressing his thoughts.
However, what you and I think about it doesn't matter much, its the owners of the radio station who can and will decide his fate and rightly so--they are entitled to control what is said on the airwaves that they control.

Well if Don Imus loses his job for one negative comment about blacks, Radio DJs Star and Buckwild, from another New York Station, Hot 97, should have radio licenses revoked for numerous jokes about whites that are aired daily.
Whatever is done here should be a two way street. Meaning if a white guy makes a dumb comment about blacks, and he gets fired as a result, the same should happen to the black guy who makes comments about whites.
Numerous black celebrities, most notably comedians, are known to tell white jokes. Why is it that if they do it, it's considered funny and not reverse racism? When a white guy makes one mistake though, he's branded a racist.

Oh, heck no!
If we start firing everying who says something that is not PC, or that might be controversial, we will no longer have our First Amendment Rights.
Besides, Imus crunches on EVERYONE. Black, white, skinny, fat, bald, Democrats, Republicans, women, men and "others"......it doesn't matter to him. It's what he does, it's what he has done for decades - and if you don't like him you can change the stupid channel!
I can't stand Rosie. So, I will not allow her nasty comments and bull-dyke visage in my home - I change the channel! See? it's that easy!

No he shouldn't be fired and he shouldn't have apologized either. Sharpton and Jackson are just big hypocrites that just want publicity whenever someone that isn't colored says anything about colored people. How come they didn't speak out about the Madison Square Garden riots a few weeks ago? Sharpton and Jackson aren't leaders, just hypocritical publicity hounds!

The opinions of Sharpton and Jackson certainly have no bearing here.
I don't know about fired, I don't listen to him. But calling college students whores is certainly offensive.

No. He should apologize to the Rutgers basketball team and that is it. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are race baiters and shouldn't even be involved. Who the heck are they anyway? I mean really! They are worthless and have done more to damage the image of the "black" community than can be imagined. If it is a crime to be a racist, then Al Sharption and many many others would be in prison for sure.
