It is a brick built rectangular pond. The pond is approx 2mtrs long by 1.2 mtrs wide. It is 65cm from bottom to top of brick work. There is a section 80cm(l) x 20cm(w) x 90cm (d to top of wall) at one end. There is a waterfall around 80-90cm tall at one end of the pond. Which pump and filter would be best to use? Do I need extra pumpage to feed waterfall? Where is best to situate filter (i'm thinking atop and behind the waterfall, as this looks like where the original one would have been). Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

When you say filled in do you mean fill it with water or dirt?
If it's water make sure you have no leaks especially if you want to put fish in it.

The link below has especially good prices but not so much plant material.
I highly recommend PONDMASTER PUMPS...they are magnetic drive and usually the only thing you ever need to replace is the impeller..there is no oil in it, the pump it runs on magnets.

P.S. I use a Xavan pond liner with a geotextile underlayment.
Most people use firestone EPDM 45 mil but it is way heavy and difficult to place. Both have 25+ years of use.
I also use 24 watts of UV sterilizer to ridthe alge and have a crystal clear pond in conjunction with Pondzyme Plus

Pond-Zyme Plus is a heavy-duty pond cleaner, containing five specially selected bacterial strains in a stable dry form. Pond-Zyme Plus breaks down fish waste and dead algae that can cause cloudy water, sludge build-up, and debris that clogs pumps and filters.

Organic matter accumulates in all garden ponds producing a build-up of sludge and causing cloudy water. The five strains of bacteria in Pond-Zyme Plus digest sludge into harmless minerals and water. Pond-Zyme Plus helps pond filters stay cleaner longer, reduces pond maintenance and keeps pond water clean and clear.

Its quite simple. Clean out your pond and check its still waterproof, make sure you clean properly as you don't want any parasite left to harm any fish or plants. Fill with fresh water. Make sure you have a new pump and filtration system installed before you stock with new plants and fish. As for buying a new pump and filters i can recommend the Biosys 3 from pond liners direct. You can contact them on 01992890901 or at www.e-pond.co.uk The company have a very good reputation and they will deliver within 24hrs.
Good luck.

KAMOOR'S LANDSCAPE & AUQASCAPE TO THE RESCUE, to answer your question, you need an algaecide that is sold at any pond, pool or lanscape dealership, which will get rid of the unwanted algae. The filter can be placed at the bottom of the pond or pool, which will do the most good at this location, and to keep it clean, go to a Fishery that sells both fresh & salt water variety, and purchase some mollusks, or fresh water snails, or algae eating fish, that will keep the pool or pond health and clean. And my suggestion to you, seeing as I specialize in this field of service, I'd use a non-bio-degradable ph-balanced rubber bed-liner to (black) keep the algae from growing to rapidly in the first place. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU!!!

AND on THE PUMP TYPE, as the HOME DEPOT lawn and garden section for a PUMP-WATER-RATIO handbook. It will have all the information on WHAT SIZE PUMP is recommended per hourly flow ratio.
