Measure from the heel, where the foot hits the shoe, to the floor along the stilletto.

Avoid heels higher than 3 inches, and wear them every other day, at most.

Most manufacturers measure they're heels in a straight line up the rear most part of the heel, from the ground to the highest part of the heel structure. Measuring from the arch side of the heel varies from one mfg to another due to the arch each mfg feels is best for the shoe. Also due to the different thickness of the top of the heels there is a variance.

Something else to think about when measuring heels is the difference in height from one shoes size to the next, vs. the proportionate appearance desired by the maker. Some will advertise a 5" heel as measured on a size 8 shoe. The same model/style will have only a 4.25" heel on a size 6 but a 5.5" heel on a size 12. But when you look at pictures of the shoes they all look the same. That's because the heel height is proportional to the desired angle between the foot and the leg and relative to the length of the foot.

Remember geometry from high school?? A high heel shoe simply makes a triangle. If you increase the height of the upright side (X axis) you change the angle of the ramp (tangent) as long as the length (Y axis) is constant. I posted a couple excellent links to the mathematical side of heels below.

Hope this answers your question!!

from right below heel to the ground. you go to the part where the top where your foot goes in (the acual shoe) and the heel are put together, and measure down until the heel hits the floor. oh, and you might want to use one of those ruler/yard stick that you roll up and can use for sewing or a flexible ruler.

You measure where the heel starts and when the heel ends. A ruler might be enough. Measure on the outside part of the heel.

Sit your heel down on a flat surface and measure the back. Put the ruler down with the one on the surface and look up thats how tall ur heels are!
