While you are at the hospital, they will provide everything you need for your baby. Diapers, t-shirts, receiving blankets, wipes, burp cloths, etc, are all standard supplies. All you need to bring to the hospital or have someone bring to you after the birth is an outfit and appropriate outdoor wear such as a snowsuit or blankets. If you are going straight home from the hospital, you won't need to pack a diaper bag, you'll have plenty of other stuff to worry about. Usually you are allowed to take home everything that has been provided for your baby at the hospital, such as the extra diapers, wipes, hair brush, clippers, etc. The cloth items stay at the hospital such as the receiving blankets and the t-shirts. If your hospital has a tour for expectant parents, take advantage of that. You can ask what they provide for the baby and see where you will be.

At the hospital I went to, they supplied everything. Even the diaper bag!!! The little cart bed the baby sleeps in had storage under it with plenty of diapers and wipes and everything. They put a new shirt on her every night when they gave her a bath (and during the day if got soiled).

The only things you will need to take are WANTS. If you have a cute oufit or two that you would like to put the baby in, by all means...
Just remember to be careful of the bellybutton. Take something lose and comfy that won't irritate it. And if this is your first, keep in mind you are not an expert baby dresser yet. Take something easy, like footed pjs or, even better, take a baby "gown" and socks.

The clothes I took were very big on my daughter even though she was a nice 8lbs, and I wished I had brought smaller stuff.

Oh, be sure if you take clothes for the baby from home to wash with gentle detergent before. The factory crud that is in and on all store bought clothes is something you probably never even notice, but it could irritate baby's skin.

Have the car seat in the car that you will be bringing baby home in.

An outfit to come home in, and a soft blanket. Have a diaper bag packed with diapers, wipes ect, in the car. No need to take it in the hospital with you, They will give you what you need for baby. But ask the ospital before you go in to make sure of this.

I know alot of people will tell you to pack everything ectept the kitchen sink... I just think thats silly. Someone has to pack all that stuff back home again. I see no reason to bring stuff you wont even need. You not gonna be there very long, mosy of the time just over night IF THAT.

Worse case you might be there a couple of days, But your not gonna need a bunch of stuff. Take a cell phone or a phone card so you can call people, If you need something they can bring you just what you need. No reason to pack it.

A camera is nice to take pics in the room......... those are pics that you will treasure for a lifetime.

The hospital should supply most of what you need. But bring your car seat. Also, a bag containing an outfit, socks, diapers and wipes. And a few soft blankets. Don't overpack as you will have your hands full when you leave!!! Best of luck to you and your baby!!

You will want to take a "going home" outfit and and a blanket. Otherwise, the hospital will provide most everything you need for the baby while he/she is there (diapers, wipes etc). If you have a certain pacifier or bottle you want to use, you should take those with you as well.

nail clippers, pacifier, picture outfit, going home outfit (don't plan to use the same outfit for both, pictures and going home, you don't know when he'll spit up or have a diaper blow-out!) carseat, nursing pads (even if you are not going to nurse) newborn type of diaper wipes (most hospitals give little paper towels that you have to wet before you use them) . Also, for you... bring something that fit you when you were about 5 months pregnant! you will be too small for your 9 month preg clothes, but too big for your before preg. clothes! God Bless.
