NO castor oil does NOT induce labor, what it can do, is if your already having contractions but far apart, can make them stronger and closer, but i dont recommend for that either
If taken in hopes of inducing labor all your going to get are severe stomach cramps, not contractions, and poop alot, it can also make the baby poop causing them to swallow the meconium which is very very dangerous for the baby.
My advice let nature take its course...PLEASE for the babys sake don't try castor oil!

It's just an old wives tale. My friend downed castor oil when she was one week past her due date, and all she did was throw up uncontrollably. Try taking a walk or having sex. Those things have been proven to help induce labor. Don't try any of those home remedies they might make you sick and hurt your baby. Stick with medically proven methods.

No! It will give you one heck of a case of the runs, but that is it. If you get too dehydrated, you may start having contractions, but they won't be true labor. They will stop once you get re-hydrated, and they won't progress you any. It isn't worth the pain and suffering.
Try walking and sex to get things moving. They didn't work for me, but they are much safer than Castor oil.

STOP Don't do it!!!
The only reason that castor oil may work is that it will cause you to have severe diarrhea. If a pregnant woman gets dehydrated then she will go in to labor The diarrhea causes dehydration which causes labor. The dehydration will cause your labor to be much more intense than normal. Please talk to your doctor.

NO!!!! I took it and all it did was make me sick!!!!!! The baby had a B.M. too while still in his sack and had to be put onto antibiotics just in case some got into his lungs...he is fine now...very healthy & happy.
But I would strongly advise against it!!!!!! It is not worth it...just hang in there.
