My cat did the same thing. My vet said that they do sense pregnancy. But he got over the bad behavior after a few months and has decided that anytime I sit or lay down he has to be beside my belly or between my legs. Don't get rid of the cat just yet....give it time

YES!!! They can tell! And it's so wierd... My cats knew. They started acting funny and to this day my girl cat is 5 times as much as a "she-devil" as she was before. The boy is still docile if not more docile and likes to cuddle with me. I think she tries to be territorial or win a place in the house by refusing to listen when I say "no" and doing what she pleases even after I've swatter her 3 times for being on the kitchen table. We are getting rid of the female becuase we can't afford for her to by so psycho when the baby arrives. If she won't listen when we tell her "no" for simple things then who knows what she will do later, I don't want her in the crib and I know she won't care. We're keeping the male, he is acting very well and is very sweet. Just watch to see how yours acts. He may just be out of wack for a couple weeks with your new creation so let him settle and act normal with him if not try to be nicer to him. FYI, you probably already know but don't touch the litter or change the box or any of his excrement--- toxoplasmosis. Good luck!

I think all animals can sense a new life. I have a dog, not a cat. He is a part pit bull that suddenly thinks he is a lap dog after I became pregnant. He wants to cuddle all the time, and will even push my husbands hand off of my belly with his nose whenever he touches me. This is pretty funny because he was my husbands dog for years before we married. He is trying to be my practice baby.

I am 34 1/2 weeks pregnant and I have 3 cats. I have not noticed a change in any of them except while I was sick with morning sickness 2 out of the 3 would sit by the toilet and keep me company! Good luck to you, your baby, and your cat!

One of mine slept by my side for a couple weeks. She now likes to come hang out with me on the couch to cuddle and follows me around the house. The other is always cuddly but she sleeps right by my head instead of at my feet. I love it!!! One of my dogs seems to be sensing something as well and is acting careful around me which is good because she's a Great Dane and has a tail like a whip!!

I believe so. My cat was exactly the same, used to sleep with me every night and used to sit on my lap but as soon as I became pregnant she wanted nothing to do with me. Now though that my little boy is here, she wants all my attention but I don't have the time to give it to her and I feel like she is being pushed out but what can I do? I wouldn't get rid of your cat.

Heehee! Dont get rid of your cat......... He/She is probably just jealous!!!
I'm not sure about cats but my fiances dogs were never interested in me before an then all of a sudden when i found out i was pregnant they started following me like a sheep!
I defiantly think they can sense it and that all animals react differently but dont get rid of your pet it could turn out 2 be your babys best friend!!!!

Perhaps it was purrrrrrely coincidence, but my cat seems to sense that I had skin cancer. She kept licking a spot on my arm. I had it checked by a dermatologist, and sure enough, it was cancer. Fortunately, it was something easy to remove, but I'll always be thankful to Miss Cilla for giving me her own little feline heads up! Who knows what else these furry friends can diagnose!!
Or maybe it's not that he knows that you're pregnant - just that his mommy is not giving him the kind of attention that he's used to being given. After all, you wouldn't be normal if you weren't especially taking care of yourself right now!!
Best of luck to you with your pregnancy!

In my opinion yes, all animals can sense that you are pregnant, if you think about it your hormones have changed, so your body scent that they recognise you by may also have changed. I had a dog when i was pregnant who suddenly became over protective of me and even watched my partner like a hawk when he came near me
