I'm trying to attract wildlife to part of my garden but i don't know what to do to attract it.

I know the obvious ones like have a water source and log pile but i would like some more simple but effective methods to attract any type of wildlife.

Thanks

Put your garbage cans with a well sealing lid in your backyard and they will come! Squirrels love nuts and if you place plant saucers conspicuously around it will attract them. Birdseed, pinecones coated with peanut butter and suet will attract birds, squirrels, possums and racoons. Hummingbirds love red flowering plants, like bottle brush, and will hoover around those plants. Our passion vine attracts monarch butterflies every year and grows well over trellises and patio covers.

1.if u want to attract a carnivore u can keep a piece of meat
2.u must keep some water if u hv a pond or in some other water vessels.
3.if u wanna attract beetles etc. u may put spoiled food.
4.if u wanna attract bird whc suck nectar u can plant some flowers this will aslo attract butterflies bee etc.

Add plants like the Buddlia bush which attracts the butterflies. Also have a part of the garden that you leave'wild' like stinging nettles and wildflowers which attract bees and caterpillars. The Comma butterfly lays its eggs on nettles, they are attractive butterflies but becoming rare as people dont want nettles in their gardens. Also a Ice plant which grows small and in the Autumn has attractive pink flowers which attract bees and other insects. What about tall foxgloves? they are attractive and bumble bees love to climb into the flowers and gather their honey.

Choose native plants or close relatives. Some of the fancy flowers are not appetising to the bees. Look at your nearest 'wild' place and make your garden an extension of that.

I have planted rosemary, quince (Crimson &gold) and wild field rose growing through my hedge. The first two are alive now with bees and bumblebees respectively, and the white field rose sizzles and hums with industry in June.

If you check my yahoo 360 page you will find a photo of my garden in season. The big oak trees behind aren't mine, but I've used hawthorn which is a native tree.

What I did replaced into offered a pond with water characteristic and positioned it on the bottom of my backyard and characteristic if truth be told enable most of the floor go "to waste" ie enable the weeds and so on strengthen of their personal accord. I also offered a poultry station and hung up poultry feeders. I now get alot of birds contained in the backyard and the unusual squirrel and fox. I were given a number of my innovations from observing Springwatch with bill Oddie. Their website has some sensible the right thanks to create a flora and fauna section on your backyard. Have a ganders at their web site
