what is the deal with my computer if a "start in safe mode" screen appears everytime i start my computer?

if gives me a couple of options on how to start it, but no matter which option i choose, it always comes back to this screen... i can not access any of my files, internet, etc..

it will not let me go back to the last known configuration. it will not let choose any of the options, when i do, it always comes back to this blue screen. before this happened, it worked just fine, with the exception that the fan started kicking on a lot. am i screwed or? or can i take it to a computer repair place and can they do anything to get it started again?

It should give you an option "to go back to last kknow good configuration", do it!
