How do you solve this Algebra problem?

.7182 = [( .1895 + x ) ( .1895 + x )] / ( .1 - x)

really need some help with this. Thanks all.

Order of operations. First do

[( .1895 + x ) ( .1895 + x )] You Have to FOIL.

If you wanna get rid of the denominator, multiply both sides by (.1-x)

Then combine like terms. You're gonna end up with some sort of quadratic equation, judging by the fact that you have to FOIL.

These are some pretty mean numbers. I hate when decimals are involved [[:

After you FOIL and get rid of the denominator, you have:

.07182 - .7182x = x^2 + .379x +.0359

So subtract .07182 - .7182x from both sides.

0 = X^2 + 1.0972x - .03592

Now just solve for X.
I would graba graphing calculator and find the zeroes.
Normally, I'd do it for you, but you have to do some part, right :p And also, my calculator is out of batteries, lol

.07182 - .7182x = (.1895+x)²

Expand the right-hand side:

Now we employ the quadratic formula:
