I did numerous things to get better finding each one was hard but for you ill make it easy by putting it into simple steps:
1. get a system link cable for the XBOX and make sure it works for both system linking and xbox live
(1.5. optional) get xbox live or go to step 2)
2. got to http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ and download it on your computer and use that cable you bought to play xbox live for free
3. find wether you are a long range short range or medium range player (i am a long range short range person, if they catch me in between im screwed)
4. have halo parties with people that you know in person and that can come to your house and are good at halo 2.
5. I know they will hate you but screen cheat and mimic their techniques as best as you can
6. learn the levels as best as possible, learn where the spawn points are and where the weapons start at (learn one especially well and play the " its my game and my xbox" card and make them play there as much as possible
7. last have fun and still keep an outside life (other than Halo)

I hope this helps and just email me if you need any more help

(if you email me make the subject something like Halo 2 or something else that is obvious)

Play the Campaign mode to work on your skills. It's a good starting point, and most of the controls will be the same in Halo 3. Also, if you have Xbox Live, play Rumble Training and Team Training in Matchmaking. These two playlists are good for beginners and they will feature popular gametypes, so that when you do play Halo 3, you won't have played unknown gametypes.
If you ever want more training, you can play Halo 2 with me on Xbox Live. My gamertag is smartguy92392.
I hope this helps!!!

As of April 24th, they are resetting all the rankings in matchmaking. So we are all going to start at 1. Also, the new maps are being released for download before that (cost is 4 dollars). This new "stir up" might help your performance some because we are all going to be playing eachother-the 1s to the 50s. They are also working on getting the cheating virtually eliminated. My gamertag is PiStAcHi0 (with a zero) if you want to SNIPE sometime.

hehe it's ok bro.. there are so many people out there that think they are gonna be awesome... then they start playing.
In my opinion some people just have a natural gift for that game.. I don't know what it is exactly, but practice isn't gonna necessarly make you better.
One of the biggest mistakes I see people making is that they don't aim correctly when they are firing at others. I see people doing the spray and pray and strafe and shoot machine guns till their dead. You really gotta make good decisions on when to shoot and when to avoid combat till you are in a good position with a good weapon.
Knowing the maps is a huge advantage... memorize them and memorize where all the overshields will be on the maps and get in a pattern of getting your upgrade getting some kills and getting that upgrade again. Also there is no substitute for finding a good crew to roll with. If your mediocre at the game the best thing to do is to find a good crew to team up with and then do your best to not die and get as many kills as you can.

Sorry yet you cant play Halo without an Xbox or computing gadget. in my opinion I dont like Vista because of compatibility themes yet once they artwork the insects out i wager it's going to be high-quality. be sure your computing gadget can take care of Vista before you positioned in it. I went to best purchase and a laptop with Vista domicile correct fee of their shop replaced into so underpowered it iced up the second one I moved the mouse. It in simple terms had 512MB of ram! you want a minimum of 1GB! So beware of such issues as that. you'll come across the gadget criteria for Vista on the web page less than in my resources. you could improve your gadget to satisfy them or in simple terms purchase a clean one once you've the money. solid success!

Play the hectic battles with the flood on the hardest difficulty. there are some battle that are very hard to beat and you WILL die constantly but you will learn how to use weapons better and after dying like 100 times you might be able to take on some people from xbox live.

Practice, practice, practice.

You should also look up some training videos online, they'll give you tricks for avoiding fire, or for maximizing melee speed/reload speed, etc.
