I feel the same way that you feel. I have 4 yound sons, and I get anxious and worried thinking of what they will be left to handle once I am gone. Global warming is very real, and the drastic affects are very near. I try to do what i can to encourage people to recycle, use cloth diapers, create thier own organic gardens, and raise thier own animals for meat... etc. Teach them all you can about this, and how t slow it, frm as early on as you can. I try to think that no matter how things may end up, that this is God's will. He has a plan for us all. You having a beautiful child was in His plan. Do what you can to keep your faith in whatever it is that you believe, and teach your child(ren) the same. Do not be afraid of what is to cme- whether it be good or not so good. Try to be prepared mentally for anything. I pray alot, attend church, I homeschool my children, and I do my best to stay very very busy. Hopefully what the world is doing now, will drastically slow the process, but if not, please know that it will be just fine. Maybe you should try to join a group that address these concerns. In the meanwhile, stay focused on that baby. Love and nurture him like I know you will. God Bless

Catastrophies are inevitable. There aways have been, and always will be catastrophies. Global warming is just something we'll have to live with. If it helps at all, we ARE working to slow it down. It won't be so bad, a lot of it is just hype.

Although controversial, I do not believe that global warming is really as serious as some politicians and "movie star activists" have made it out to be. Its hype to get people stirred up. I am all for protecting the environment, but some people are going overboard. check out this paper and type in Global warming hype or myth and read what some scientists say that gets swept under the rug.

Raise your child to be responsible, you will be fine. Enjoy the young years, they go to fast to fret.

Wow, I thought it was just me being scared for the future of my children!

I think it's our natural motherly instinct that is willing to move heaven and earth to protect our children. At 7 weeks you are probably also overloaded with post partum hormones. Take it as a sign of a good mother who will do anything for her baby. Don't think about the future too much. If your mind starts going down that path, think, "Stop!" and refocus on your present joy.

Later, when you catch up on your sleep and your homones settle out, you can consider joining or supporting an organization that addresses your concerns.

Don't fear Gobal Warming. At one time, the entire center of the United States was underwater. The earth changes, land masses and water levels change. We, as creatures, adapt and continue to thrive.

You should be more worried about poverty and oppression than global warming. Both of these things are more likely to affect you personally.

How about worrying about raising them to make a difference and to be good children and adults one day? Global warming and catastrophic events are all inevitable. Personally I'm not going to worry about it too much. I just do my part in helping it slow down and trust that God will take care of His earth. If you do nothing but worry and obsess about this, you'll miss out on life and enjoying your kids.

It is natural to worry like that - our children and their children face many challenges - but we didn't get where we are today by giving up in the face of challenges! In any case, "global warming", however it turns out, is unlikely to be among the bigger challenges your child will face.

If you worry for your children, don't think 'maybe I shouldn't bring them into the world'. Instead think 'how can I educate them to change the world?'

Catastrophes are inevitable, but they are not reasons why we shouldn't procreate. There are far better reasons why people shouldn't have children, but we need our children to rebuild and keep the human race going until Jesus comes back ;). Until then, let's teach them to be good stewards of our world and lead by example.

Just say the Global Warming Prayer:

A psalm of Al, Patron Saint of Hot Air
The GORE is my shepherd, I shall not be in want of petrol.
He makes me lie for green causes, he restores my carbon footprint.
Even though I drive through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no emissions, for you are with me;
Your offsets, they comfort me.
