since i was pregnant i really wanted to go soak in a whirlpool but couldn't because of the pregnany. i had a c section and an epidural so i feel sore and my back needs some massage or just soaking in a jacuzzi. so my husband and i want to go to the recreation center near us , swim and soak. is it ok to take our 7 weeks old baby with us? well he's not gonna soak with us of course haha. thanx

I wouldnt. There are so many germs at a rec center. i wouldnt want my 7 week old baby exposed to that. The best thing would be to get a babysitter for a couple hours (like grandma or an aunt or uncle). You both my need a little break anyways.

no offense to the others that answered this but babies need to be exposed to germs once in awhile. that's how they build resistance to certain things. as long as he's not soaking in the jacuzzi and some one is sitting right with him and the clorine smell isn't super strong i don't see what the difference is with that and a store or even the doctors office where there are sick kids.

If he's had a round of shots, then do it. If he hasn't, wait until he gets shots. You don't want all kinds of people handling an unvaccinated child and passing along God knows what to him. (And because he's so little, EVERYONE will want to fawn all over him!!)

of course you can take him if the pool is warm than feel free to bring him in with you..not the hot tub but the pool the eirlier he learns to swim the less thare is a chance of him drowning later in life it is proven! i have been bringing my daughter to the pool since she was a week old she is 8 months now and kickes her legs and moves her arms and i can put her under real quick she loves it!

NO! Why expose him to useless germs. He is still a newborn! Please use common sense and put his best interests before your desires.
