i know that UNC chapel hill is best but which is the next top school in the UNC school system

NC State. After that, there is a big drop off in quality.
(NC State decided not to change their name to UNC-Raleigh -- but it is part of the UNC system).

NC State and UNC-CH are the top two universities in the statewide UNC system. UNC-CH is older and historically more "prestigious", but NC State is actually now the largest, and offers the most choices of majors.
